Compressor Running Constantly
This is the single most important warning sign in any air suspension system, and acting on it fast saves you real money. The compressor runs continuously because it is replacing air escaping somewhere. Leave it, and it burns out — and then you pay for the compressor on top of the original leak.
Likely causes
- Air spring leak
Cause number one. The compressor compensates continuously until it tires.
- Valve block leak
A slow internal leak that's hard to notice because the car doesn't visibly drop.
- Air line or fitting leak
Especially at the quick-connect fittings, which fatigue in the heat.
- Saturated air dryer
Reduces system efficiency so the compressor runs longer for the same pressure.
- Stuck exhaust valve
Less common — a valve continuously venting air to atmosphere.
What to do right now
- Cut back on driving until it's inspected — every extra minute of running brings burnout closer
- Note how long the compressor runs and how often per hour
- Don't pull the compressor fuse as a workaround — the car will collapse completely
- Book an inspection quickly; this one deserves priority
What it typically costs
Pressure-testing to find the leak is free. Catch it before burnout and you pay only for the leak repair. If it has burnt out, the compressor is added on top — which is why checking early saves real money.
