Frequently asked questions

If your question isn't answered here, message us on WhatsApp and we'll answer it.

Where is Marekh Auto Garage located?

We're at 9 St, Shuwaikh Industrial, Al Asimah Governorate, Kuwait. Easy access from the 4th Ring Road and Jahra Road. Open Saturday to Thursday, 8 AM to 9 PM; closed Friday.

How do I book?

WhatsApp is fastest. Send us the make, model and year with a description of the problem, plus a photo or video if you can, and we'll come back with an initial read and a time.

Do you give a price before starting work?

Always. We inspect first, then quote — and where there's both a repair option and a replacement option, you get both prices. Nothing starts without your approval.

What warranty do you give?

A written warranty on labour and on parts we supply, covering the same fault in the same location. The period depends on the part and is written on the invoice.

Which brands do you work on?

Our core specialisation is German and American cars: Range Rover, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Porsche, Audi, Volkswagen, Lexus, Yukon, Tahoe and Cadillac Escalade.

My car won't rise — can I drive it to you?

We don't recommend it. Driving on a collapsed air system damages the springs and the body. Message us on WhatsApp with a video and we'll tell you whether it's safe to drive or needs a flatbed.

Do you use genuine parts?

We show you three options with prices: genuine dealer, OEM from the same factory that supplies the dealer, or a trusted specialist aftermarket brand such as Arnott. We never fit an unbranded part.

How long does a repair usually take?

Most suspension jobs are same-day. Jobs needing a part we don't stock take one to three days, and we tell you the timeframe upfront.

How much does hydraulic suspension repair cost in Kuwait?

It depends on the fault, the model and the part tier. Replacing an air spring or repairing a valve block costs far less than a complete strut. Inspection here is free, and after it you get a repair price and a replacement price before any work begins.

Do you sell hydraulic struts?

Yes — we sell, rebuild and repair. We carry struts and pumps for German and American cars in three tiers: genuine, OEM and trusted aftermarket. Send your VIN on WhatsApp and we'll tell you what's available.

Why do air suspension compressors burn out?

The number one cause is a leak elsewhere in the system forcing the compressor to run until it overheats. The second is a moisture-saturated air dryer letting water into the cylinder. We treat the cause before the part.

What does a compressor cost in Kuwait?

A rebuild kit costs far less than a new compressor, and prices vary by model. After the free inspection you get both options priced.

How long do air springs last in Kuwait's climate?

Normally 6–10 years, but heat and dust cut that to 4–7. Cars parked in full sun all day fail fastest.

Do I have to replace both sides together?

Not mandatory, but we recommend it when the other bag is the same age — it usually cracks within a year, and doing both together saves a second labour charge.

What does a diagnostic scan cost?

Inspection here is free: we scan every module and explain the result, then you decide.

My check engine light is on — is it serious?

Not necessarily. It triggers for something as minor as a loose fuel cap or as serious as an emissions system fault. A scan is the only way to tell the difference.

Do you do mechanical work or only suspension?

Both. Hydraulic suspension is what we're best known for, but we have a mechanical and general service section for German and American cars: engine, cooling, leaks, gearbox and scheduled maintenance.

Do you have a Range Rover mechanic?

Yes. Range Rover is one of the cars we work on most — mechanical, suspension and programming. See the Range Rover mechanical page for the faults specific to it.

My battery dies every two days — why?

Usually parasitic drain: a module that never enters sleep mode. We measure the drain after lockdown and pull fuses one at a time to isolate the circuit. The test takes two to four hours.

Do you repair wiring harnesses or must they be replaced?

Most are repairable — soldered joints, heat shrink and proper sealing. Full harness replacement is rarely necessary and very expensive.

My gearbox jolts when shifting — is it finished?

Not necessarily. Shift shock is usually degraded fluid, incorrect adaptations or the mechatronic unit. We start with diagnosis and programming before discussing a rebuild.

How often should I change transmission fluid?

In Kuwait's climate, every 60,000–80,000 km even if the manufacturer says lifetime. High temperatures shorten fluid life substantially.

My ABS light is on — is the car safe?

Normal braking usually still works, but anti-lock and stability control are off. Under hard braking or on a wet road you lose part of your safety margin. Don't put the check off.

How often should brake fluid be changed?

Most German manufacturers say every two years, because the fluid absorbs moisture over time and loses performance — faster in Kuwait's climate.

What does alignment cost?

It depends on the car, and it costs less when it accompanies suspension work done here. Ask us on WhatsApp and you'll know the price before you come.

The car still pulls right after alignment — why?

Alignment doesn't fix everything. Pull can come from an internally damaged tyre, uneven pressures, a worn control arm or a brake issue. We check those before aligning.

The AC cools but not like it used to — why?

Usually gradual refrigerant loss from a small leak, a dust-clogged condenser, or a blocked cabin filter. We start with pressure readings to tell which.

How often should I recharge the refrigerant?

A sealed system never needs recharging. If you're topping up yearly, you have a leak that needs repair — repeat recharging is a fault symptom, not maintenance.

How often should I service my car?

In Kuwait's climate we recommend every 7,000–10,000 km for German cars, even where the manufacturer says 15,000. Heat and dust shorten oil life considerably.

Does servicing here void my dealer warranty?

No — provided the correct specification parts and oils are used and the work is documented. We give you an itemised invoice with part numbers for your records.

Need your car looked at?
