"Air Suspension Inactive" Message
This message means the control module deliberately shut the system down — not that it suddenly broke. The module saw a reading or behaviour outside its limits and protected itself. The message is the symptom; the cause has to be read from the module.
Likely causes
- A leak the system detected
If the module sees the compressor running excessively, it shuts down to stop the compressor burning out.
- Out-of-range ride-height sensor
A broken sensor or detached arm reports an impossible value and the system refuses to operate.
- Low battery voltage
Common and overlooked. A weak battery triggers false suspension messages — which is why we always test the battery first.
- Compressor not reaching target pressure
It runs, but doesn't reach pressure within the expected time, which is logged as a fault.
- CAN bus communication fault
Lost communication between the suspension module and the rest of the network.
What to do right now
- Test the battery first — a weak battery is a repeat cause of this exact message
- Note whether the message appears in cool weather and clears in heat; that points to a cracked spring
- Clearing the code without fixing the cause brings it back within days — don't just clear it
- Send us a photo of the dash message on WhatsApp
What it typically costs
A full scan including the suspension module is free. Cost beyond that depends on the actual cause, and you know it before we start.
