Mercedes S-Class W222 — 2015
An illustrative example of a case we see regularly — details vary from car to car.
AIRmatic Malfunction – Stop Vehicle message, with the right rear dropping after every park.
Pressure testing showed a clear leak in the right rear strut's air spring — cracked in the lower fold. The other three corners were sound and the compressor was within reference values.
Replaced the right rear Airmatic strut with an OEM unit, pressure-tested the remaining corners to confirm, cleared codes, recalibrated ride height, road tested.
Message gone and the car holds its height. We advised the customer to watch the left rear, which is the same age. Turnaround: same day.
