Recurring fault example

Lexus LX570 — 2014

An illustrative example of a case we see regularly — details vary from car to car.

The complaint

Extremely harsh ride with a Check AHC message. The customer said another garage had diagnosed it as "bad shocks".

What diagnosis shows

The system is hydraulic AHC, not pneumatic. The pressure accumulators had lost their charge and the AHC fluid was degraded and years overdue. The struts themselves were fine.

The repair

Replaced the pressure accumulators, drained and refilled with the correct AHC fluid, bled the system, recalibrated ride height, road tested.

The result

Ride quality restored and the message gone — without replacing a single strut. Turnaround: one day.
