Recurring Mercedes-Benz faults
- Airmatic strut leaks
Most common on W221, W222 and W166. Leaks start at the lower section of the bag.
- Weak Airmatic compressor
Longer run time and slow rise. The relay is also a known failure point on W164 and W211.
- Airmatic valve block leak
Drops a corner or a whole axle when parked for long periods.
- ABC pump and hydraulic leaks
On ABC-equipped CL, SL and S — oil leaks from the pump, lines or accumulators.
A note from the workshop
ABC operates above 200 bar. It cannot be opened without correct pressure discharge — a key reason we advise against leaving an ABC car with a non-specialist garage.
